FLDOE’s parent page names three statutory filings:

1. Letter of intent with the school district where you live.
2. Annual evaluation to that district.
3. Letter of termination when the program is done.

From F.S. 1002.41 (2024 statutes page), in plain language, not a substitute for the statute:

• A home education program is not a district program. The parent does not need a Florida teaching certificate.
• Written notice of intent, signed, with full legal names, addresses, and birthdates of the children, filed with the district superintendent within 30 days of starting.
• Written notice of termination within 30 days of ending, with the annual evaluation.
• Portfolio: a log of educational activities made at the time of instruction, with titles of reading materials; plus samples of writings, worksheets, workbooks, or creative materials. Keep it 2 years. Show it if the superintendent asks in writing, with 15 days’ notice. The superintendent is not required to inspect it.
• Annual evaluation by one of five methods in the statute. File a copy with the superintendent.
• The program is excluded from meeting the requirements of a school day.
