How to stock a room in metro Orlando

Families fill a child list from a school page. Teachers fill a room from walk-in shelves, catalogs, and, if eligible, a state stipend plus a free teacher store. Addresses, hours, and eligibility live on the linked first-party pages.

Five steps

  1. Open the campus list. Seminole elementary uses one district file. Orange and Osceola lists live on each school site. Start at Lists.
  2. Buy the student column first: backpack (no wheels), composition books, #2 pencils, crayons, blunt-tip scissors, glue sticks, headphones. Take the official page with you. Kits turns those nouns into a table.
  3. For the shared room (tissues, wipes, extra dry-erase) use walk-in teacher retail (Lakeshore Fern Park), office superstores, or a warehouse club. Cards and hours are on Classroom.
  4. Eligible public-school instructional staff: use Florida’s Teachers Classroom Supply Assistance Program under F.S. 1012.71. Funds buy classroom materials and supplies for the students assigned to that teacher; the statute says they may not be used to purchase equipment. Seminole administers its share through the SCPS Teacher Classroom Supply Program. Amounts are set in the General Appropriations Act each year.
  5. If you are eligible instructional staff, shop a free teacher store: A Gift for Teaching (OCPS email and employee ID on My AGFT) or Tools 4 Seminole Schools (1780 West Airport Blvd., Sanford). Osceola teachers use A Gift for Teaching of Osceola Countyconfirm the street address on that page. Public listings have given both 2310 and 2320.

Fill the child list from the school page. Fill the room from the shelves, the stipend, and, if the gate fits, the free store.

What survives a school year

Plastic counting cubes and a ten-frame set outlast paper counters after a wet backpack week. A paper number line on a busy wall wants laminate or a write-and-wipe sleeve. Name labels that peel in August are gone by October. The school list still wins on brand names. This page only names the material that lasts.

Plastic vs paper manipulatives
Cubes, ten-frames, and analog clocks in hard plastic survive the year. Paper cut-outs belong on a laminated sheet or a pocket chart.
Label laminate
A cold-laminate pouch or a write-and-wipe sleeve keeps a name tag and a cubby label readable. Search those nouns on Shop when you want a Get this card.

FAQ

Does the stipend cover a document camera or a rug?

F.S. 1012.71(2) says the funds purchase classroom materials and supplies and may not be used to purchase equipment. Consumable student supplies (pencils, paper, dry-erase, crayons) are the core. Confirm doubtful items with the district program page.

Can a homeschool parent shop A Gift for Teaching?

A Gift for Teaching’s teacher page is written for eligible Orange County public school teachers (OCPS email and ID). Homeschool families use walk-in shelves and the homeschool portfolio kit.
