What first-grade lists actually ask for
Read five OCPS Grade 1 pages next to the SCPS elementary PDF and a core appears: no-wheels backpack, #2 pencils, 24-count crayons, glue sticks, blunt-tip scissors, dry-erase markers, a composition book, and wired headphones. The fight is in the jack and the journal ruling, not in whether a first grader needs a pencil.

How to use this reading
- If the child is in SCPS elementary, the PDF is the list. Stop there unless the teacher adds a class sheet.
- If the child is in OCPS, open that school’s Grade 1 column on Lists. Expect a primary journal and check the headphone jack.
- Shop the core first. Community extras (tissues, wipes, zipper bags) can wait until Meet the Teacher if the page marks them optional.
A first-grade list is a writing kit plus a listening kit. Everything else is the room.
