How VPK sits before Grade 1

1. VPKClap words, name letters, count objects, name a feeling. Play first. Do not decode CVC or add within 20.
2. KindergartenPhonemes, CVC, numerals to 20, add within 10. This desk does not ship a Kindergarten pack yet.
3. Grade 1Digraphs, add within 20, plant-part functions. Open Grade 1 crates when the child is there.

Approaches to Learning

Approaches to Learning is FELDS Domain II: curiosity, sticking with a short task, inventing a use for a material, and a simple plan. Grade 1 has no ATL crate. Do not recode this as computer science.

Oral language and emergent literacy. Cards stay in listening, vocabulary, print, letters, and syllable/onset-rime play. Kindergarten teaches phonemes and CVC. Grade 1 ELA1 teaches digraphs and decodable text.
