What is a high-frequency word?
High-Frequency Words and Fluency
High-frequency words are the short words a first grader meets in almost every sentence. Fluency is reading them accurately enough that meaning can catch up. Keep a small card set; the pocket folder on the SCPS Grade 1 list holds it.
